Computed Tomography is an area that has grown exponentially during the past years. Since CT is a very fast and efficient alternative for examinations, its applications are increasing. For example, a CT may be used to perform a fast scan on trauma patients. However, with good pictures comes higher doses and it is very important to verify that the patient doses are kept within acceptance limits.
More and more advanced systems are developed and it may be hard to keep up with the pace and really understand what comes out from the CT.
To help you along the way you can use the Piranha or the Barracuda MPD to perform the measurements of kVp, time, total filtration and HVL. For the CT dose measurements, we recommend that you use our unique solid state CT Dose Profiler.
The CT Dose Profiler can measure the CTDI just like a pencil ion chamber but it has several advantages to the ionization chamber solution. Since the X-ray fields of the CT systems are getting wider, the 10 cm pencil chamber is no longer enough to capture the whole dose contribution. With the CT Dose Profiler you capture the dose profile and see what the output looks like.
